Paulsen has persevered during difficult times

Everyone in the Resch Center held its breath Saturday evening, asks me if Paige Paulsen would really change the machine for winding victorious UW-Milwaukee.

The man himself would not have luxury.

“There is nothing happening on the head. There is not enough time, everything,” said Paulsen, a junior forward on the Horizon League’s All-New team Monday. “On receiving the ball, and then shoot. I do not think it was not in ”

Of course, the winding machine was good with 1.2 seconds left, and the Panthers defeated UW-Green Bay, 74-73.

Paulsen, once again, it was easy look.

But the closeness of Paulsen knew that achieving the critical phase that the game was critical of a process, another part of basketball, Travel through several phases of the game in itself, and the profound feelings that keep east bound.

As it is hard to imagine the elegant 6-foot-7, 220 pounds Paulsen was once a young mollig where his mother, Marilyn Paulsen, nicknamed “Pokey”.

But he accompanied his weight for example, in gyms across the Middle West, like his father, Frederik Paulsen, was a successful coach basketball. Fred spent most of three decades, coaching, worked as an assistant at Michigan State while Magic Johnson and buildings of years Huron University, South Dakota strammem in NAIA.

Regardless of his father, Paige is true Derek Paulsen was an idol, his elder brother.

Derek Paulsen has known nationally for a player in Custer (SD) High School and was recruited by the entire Marquette at Kansas State.

Paige was in high school in the fall of 1999 and looked forward to play alongside his brother, a rising senior.

A car accident that Paige’s dream was cut short. Derek and his girlfriend, Eva choice of electricity, were killed following a collision on the head.

The family, especially Paige, was devastated.

Basketball, the thing that Attached Paulsen family, was his refuge.

“Basketball was a market for me, to me a good feeling,” said Paige Paulsen. “We must not forget everything, but he believed me, even depressed.

Paige persevered and continued to a standout player who deserve finally, South Dakota’s Mr. honor basketball in 2003.

Panthers assistant coach Brian Bidlingmyer, then assistant at Lamar actively recruited Paige. Bidlingmyer knew the family, because Lamar was in the first races for Derek simply shot, as the radar screen of national recruitment.

In Paige, Bidlingmyer said he planned a reflection on the type of player he was at Siena College: with a high level of qualification basketball IQ

But this spring, Lamar employees, including Bidlingmyer and former Marquette coach Mike Deane, was released.

Paige sign of Northern Illinois and played for two years, but the circumstances of his arrival, never play for the Huskies seem like good shape.

Thus, how the decision was Paige, which is considered to be the next to do is Bidlingmyer was UWM. Panthers coach Rob Jeter confidence Bidlingmyer’s word of Paige’s talent, and he began a process in which him a Panther.

“When I started himself, and I knew he was the son of coach, and everything seemed that this makes sense,” said Jeter.

Paige continued in 2005-’06 as a medium of transmission, but also showed its versatility flashes during practice Scout team. Once, it was time to take Paige centre stage during the years 2006-’07, it was an immediate influence and someone young could Panthers.

“After two years of experience in Division I plays a timetable and a program that the leaders of these young types wanted to be advantageous,” said Bidlingmyer.

Paige’s family bar with pride, which he did.

“A large part had to be done, Derek, Derek was the leader,” said Marilyn. “He wants to accomplish what some of us have failed to Derek.

But her parents remain concerned, as a judge Paige. He remembers Derek subtle way, such as wearing No. 25 (Derek’s Jersey Street) and tattoos to keep his brother near his heart.

“He plays much in the spirit of his brother, but he has to play Paige, also,” said Fred.

What does he and his teammates as well.

“The bulk of this team, much more than that, as we have already, we have always found a way to defend,” said Paige.

UWM (9-21, 6-10) opens the horizon league tournament at 7 tonight at Illinois-Chicago (13-17, 7-9).
